Cae'r-frân: Navigation Meet [Revised date] 24/11/2023 - 26/11/2023

Theme:
Navigation
Description:
With call-outs for Mountain Rescue teams in England and Wales on the rise, there is a need for better navigation skills and, so, this is a perfect opportunity to practise and perfect your skills.

The organiser has kindly offered to pass on 'the knowledge' enabling fortunate participants to operate with more confidence in the mountains and to stop bothering MR teams [unless it really can't be helped and, in that case, they won't mind].

Work with Tom to:
- Carry the right tools, and know how to use them
- Keep tabs on your position
- Be aware of nearby hazards
- Know what to do when the weather changes
- Know how to walk on a bearing in poor visibility
- Trust your compass
- Use handrails
- Use a GPS.

Big thanks to Rebecca also who has kindly volunteered to help Tom with the catering, and no doubt also with navigation tips, for this meet.

Please note that hillwalking, when there is snow lying, requires an ice-axe, crampons and the knowledge, experience and skill to use them correctly (sleeping bags & a pillow case necessary).
