Completed the Welsh 3000 in two days, glorious weather for the first day going over Snowdon and the Glyders, camped just below the col between Glyder Fach and Tryfan. Day 2. Cloudy day, on the summit of Tryfan for 9.15, next stop bacon butties in the cafe in Ogwen! Tiring pull up onto Pen yr Ole Wen. Over the Carnedds and after a couple of bus rides, Pete's Eats for 8.00pm. No more hill walking this year.

Easter Sunday.

Still having amazingly good weather for Easter. Wandered round the quarries and did Seamstress bloody briliant, kareoke in the Heights , didn't participate!!

En route from Edinburgh to Isle of Man decided to dtop over in Wales for a quick visit to Caer Fran - first since 1982! Arriving 10.30pm on a dark and windy night a little nonplussed to find no keyhole on front door - somewhat relived to locate same on back door - somebody playing funny b---s? or a new intelligence test? Found the hut remarkably clean with running water and things - this is great. But either a family of furries has move in or we have a mouse with the trots. It's everywhere. Quick clean up and then baiting little nippers with unsmoked pack bacon and Scottish Cheddar.

10.4.91

High winds and low clouds - did Crib Goch Crib y whatsit and Snowdon then down P y G. Not a soul in sight till summit but hardly surprising in lousey conditions - good fun though. Back at Caer Fran Scottish Cheddar spurned but caught one on bacon. Reset with rather old English stilton - and before bedtime had 4 successes.

11.4.91

Arose to find no new captives but evidence of at least one survivor. Cleaned worktops once again and set out enthusiastically for the hills. High clouds brought white horses and clouds of spray off Llyn Ogwen, rain washed idiots off Milestone Buttress but' after long thought, an enjoyable trundle up North Ridge, the top 100ft on all fours - and a very wet descent down West Gully. Back to Caer Fran to discover no mains water and no way that I was going to return to Llanberis to phone Water Board! A quick bucket from the stream - just like old times.

12.4.91

Well the peace and quiet had to end I suppose at Some point in time - Fred has come out for the day. Heavy rain so an enjoyable social day visiting HB production (well worthwhile) and Ian Wright on Anglesey. Followed by a sociable evening at the Heights (chicken taco disappointing - sticky toffee pudding great - Burtons a poor example of a popular vintage). Back to find the water on again after calling the pump man, and yet another mouse sacrificed to stilton - (I think the score's now 6) - the mouse muck has certainly diminished.

13.4.91

Wouldn't you know it, last day and the sun decides to shine over the misty valley - it's going to be a great day - (except for mouse No7 - that must be the last). Planning a quick route in the Pass on the way home.

Another enjoyable visit to Caer Fran - must try to get back again preferably without an eight year delay this time!

Well I said I'd Never do it again !! but here I am , the Welsh 3000's completed with Paul Davis and Graham Robertson in record time of 14½ hrs!!! If it wasn't for the 15 bananas we'd still be out there. A good day out. Weather cloudy at times-no rain.

P.S. Paul's compass is luminous.

Cheers, Rowland Nock
