Disorganised Wayfarers Meet.

We are grateful for the hospitality of the members of the MMC in taking in the Wayfarers meet which was supposed to be at Beudy Mawr. Through mismanagement on the part of someone (who's head will roll when we discover his identity) Beudy Mawr was double booked and the Friday evening was made noteworthy by bands of homeless & disconsolate Wayfarers wandering up and down the Llanberis Valley looking for a bed. After this start, the meet was a great success and we all admired the admirable view from this hut.

Many thanks from all who stayed.

September 1969

September 14th

Ray & Ian (W) arrived for what is (almost) an annual event - a week in CF. The diary of events reads:

Monday: Evening beer taken at P y G *

Tuesday: Rhyd Ddu Hotel §

Wednesday: Vaynol Arms #

Thursday: Vaynol Arms †

Friday: Vaynol Arms ‡

* Mention should be made that the approach to P y G was made via Glyder Fach Main Cliff. Delta, and Slab Route preceded the summit and a descent via the Gribin Ridge led us to the pub transport.

§ The beer was earned by motoring round to Cwm Silyn, leaping up Outside Edge route, down Ordinary and back up to the summit by way of Slab Route.

# There was some doubt as to the weather today - so where better than Lliwedd where there is always doubt! The cliff was streaming with moisture extracted from the swirling mists and in these arduous conditions Route II and Red Wall (peg found at crux!!!) followed by Terminal Arete - super direct to the summit.

† Before the Vaynol, Yr Wyddfa was ascended. The summit was hidden by a Blackpool-Beach-load of tourists. (Some in mini skirts, very interesting on a mountain!) After the grand seclusion of Main Wall this was a painful return to reality. The ridge down was interrupted by Reade's Route in the evening sun.

‡ What, the Vaynol Again! Too early for the P y G after a short day in Cwm Idwal. Months of inactivity caught up with Ian's limbs and after the delights of the Girdle of the East Wall ambitious plans were shelved and tea taken at Mervyn's.

Saturday: left early leaving CF to the Pres and his Stone(d) Round Table.
